Spinning Roller Coaster

A spinning roller coaster is a roller coaster with cars that rotate on a vertical axis. The first spinning roller coaster was the Virginia Reel, first built in 1908 by Henry Riehl. Instead of trains, the ride had "tubs" with seats built around the perimeter facing inward. These tubs spun freely on their chassis as they travelled down the track, which was trough-like and similar to that of a side friction roller coaster. Virginia Reels did not have big hills or drops, but rather many sharp turns. Toward the end were two helices, and finally a drop into a dark tunnel. The last full size Virginia Reel closed at Pleasure Beach Blackpool in 1982.

Vampire is a roller coaster type ride in the Transylvania area of the Chessington World of Adventures theme park in London, England. It originally opened as a suspended roller coaster, with riders sitting in bat-themed cars hanging from the track, swinging freely as the roller coaster train completed the course. With two lift hills, the ride was quite long, and featured a sudden drop into a sharply banked curve within an artificial cave towards the end of the ride.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! A roller coaster inversion is an element of a roller coaster track that turns riders upside-down and then rights them. The degree to which it must invert riders is nebulous and a point of contention when it comes to elements like overbanked turns, which turn riders such that their heads are below their feet, but are not considered inversions. The first inversions, built in the early 1900s, were circular vertical loops that produced massive g-forces, causing stress on riders' necks. In 1975, designers from Arrow Dynamics developed the corkscrew, and the inversion was revived. Since then, elements have evolved from the simple vertical loop to massive Cobra rolls. With ten inversions, Colossus of Thorpe Park in Chertsey, England is the record holder for roller coaster with the most inversions (Tenth Ring Roller Coaster of Chimelong Paradise in Guangzhou, China, also holds the record, but is merely a duplicate of Colossus).

Built in 1978 by Arrow Dynamics and designed by Ron Toomer, it is a racing roller coaster. When the ride debuted it was the tallest, fastest, and steepest roller coaster in the world. The structure is considered a steel hybrid since the track is actually tubular steel, while the support structure is wood. Two trains, red and blue, are dispatched on two tracks that run parallel to each other throughout the ride until the end when they diverge into their own helix before coming back together to finish the ride.
